Last week was full of great startup news and one of them was definitely a small Slovene startup winning the first TechCrunch Hardware Battlefield.

CubeSensors are home air monitors packed with seven different sensors that measure over air quality, temperature, humidity, noise, light, weather pressure, and motion sending this data to the cloud. You can monitor it via an app, make required adjustments and make your home healthier or your office more productive.

CubeSensors team came back to Slovenia with a trophy and a giant $50,000 check. The most interesting thing about this startup is that the cubes are fully designed and produced in Slovenia, with no investment until now. No Chinese parts. Yes, it’s possible! As CEO Ales Spetic stated:

We don’t need to fly to China and face time and cultural differences or hire expensive engineers. CubeSensors production line is just a 15 minute drive from our HQ in Ljubljana!

The award will be used for further development as the team started sending first batches of pre-ordered cubes to its customers in late December 2013.

Find out a bit more about the startup in a video interview for TechCrunch:
