Crowdspottr is a free mobile app for the iPhone and Android that discovers popular events based on the activity of your Facebook and Foursquare friends. When we talk about location networks, the first thing that comes to mind are Foursquare and Gowalla. For the last several months, Foursquare and its 10 million users left Gowalla in the thus and thus became the leading location sharing application.
Don’t you think it’s kind of funny (or should I say – silly) that all those location services can’t tell you when or what is happening based on your location? What use do you have from them if they can’t provide you with such information? Crowdspottr wants to change that, getting you more value from location social networks.

At their 10th anniversary, the Slovenian high-tech company Zemanta d.o.o. announced that it was entirely acquired by Outbrain from the US, the world’s largest premium content discovery platform. The sum that Outbrain paid for Zemanta’s technology, products and team remains a business secret, and Zemanta’s co-founders Andraž Tori and Boštjan Špetič will join Outbrain. After becoming part of Outbrain Zemanta’s platform will continue to operate as a standalone product.
