It’s always nice when a startup not only succeeds but also finds a new business model, and that’s exactly what happened with Score Alarm, a Croatian iPhone and Android app that has been downloaded 10,000 times, 2-3,000 paid on the iTunes App Store, and then licensed to one of the biggest betting operations in the country - the Croatian national lottery!
Croatian companies Planet 1107 and Twinkle Tap have joined forces to develop and release the first dedicated iPhone app for the increasingly popular paid social network App.net. Named Rhino, the fast and quite pretty app has been in the iTunes App Store since morning, earning a 4+ score and many downloads from App.net's faithful users that have paid $50 per person.
Crowdspottr is a free mobile app for the iPhone and Android that discovers popular events based on the activity of your Facebook and Foursquare friends. When we talk about location networks, the first thing that comes to mind are Foursquare and Gowalla. Don’t you think it’s kind of funny (or should I say – silly) that all those location services can’t tell you when or what is happening based on your location? What use do you have from them if they can’t provide you with such information? Crowdspottr wants to change that, getting you more value from location social networks.
