With every New Year, we all embark on a quest to improve ourselves and make new New Year’s resolutions to that end. Of course, there are those that find the whole thing quite unnecessary, but frankly, we can all find ways to continue to push ourselves, so I’m personally a big proponent of resolutions (although you shouldn’t wait for the New Year to start if you’re motivated!).
StartLabs just announced newest addition to it's portfolio. Slovenian CarLock which specializes in vehicle monitoring, decided to join StartLabs' three month program. Over that time the team will move to Belgrade where they will spend some quality time perfecting their product and business strategy, we were told by StartLabs' founding member and partner, Nebojsa Lazic.

The Bulgarian LAUNCHub Seed Fund marks the beginning of the year with 10 new investments – 9 new companies and one follow-on in portfolio member EdHub. The latest investment decision followed the fourth Long Weekend Event held during November 28 – December 1, 2013, which was the culmination point of the Fund’s selection process. During four days of intensive pitching, coaching and mentoring, 14 teams competed to receive seed investment funding of up to 200K Euro.

A few days ago the Bulgarian startup FootballScout raised €610k seed investment from a network of angel investors including Dimitar Berbatov, one of the most prolific strikers in the English Premier League currently at FC Fulham. FootballScout.com is a project of Sportal Media Group, the largest internet media group on the Bulgarian market. It was initially funded by the Bulgarian accelerator Eleven less than a year ago and raised its last round at a €3m+ valuation.
