5th How To Web Conference Opens Applications For Startup Spotlight Competition
Fifth annual How to Web, conference on innovation, entrepreneurship and technology is taking place in Bucharest again on November 20 and 21, in a new format that brings world renowned technology professionals in front more than 1000 attendees. During the event, 32 startups in the region will compete for the 20.000 USD cash prizes offered at the 3rd edition of Startup Spotlight competition and orientation program aimed at early stage technology teams.

Fifth annual How to Web, conference on innovation, entrepreneurship and technology is taking place in Bucharest again on November 20 and 21, in a new format that brings world renowned technology professionals in front more than 1000 attendees. During the event, 32 startups in the region will compete for the 20.000 USD cash prizes offered at the 3rd edition of Startup Spotlight competition and orientation program aimed at early stage technology teams.
Under the New Beginnings tagline, the speakers will adress topics ranging from tech entrepreneurship, building products with disruptive potential at global level to industry trends, investments, and gaming. Some of the industry names that will take the satage are Paul Papadimitriou, innovation strategist and expert on the emerging digital revolution; Chris Chabot, Head of International Developer Relations for Twitter; Florian Meissner, Co-Founder and CEO EyeEm, community and marketplace for photographers with more than 10 million users.
Startup Spotlight will also take place in between November 19 and November 22. During the 4 days of the program, the finalist teams will attend workshops and mentoring sessions and meet investors, as well as representatives of early stage investment funds and acceleration programs from around the world. The 32 teams from countries in the region will also compete for the awards valued ar 20.000 USD, offered by IXIA, main partner of the program.
More Than Just A Startup Competition
Last year’s pick of 32 teams got the chance to meet representatives of some of the most prominent European accelerator programs such as TechStars, Seedcamp, Oxygen and Wayra (UK), Rockstart (The Netherlands), Eleven and LauncHub (Bulgaria), Startup Bootcamp (present in multiple European countries), TechPeaks (Italy), Startup Wise Guys and Startup Highway (Estonia), and Hub:raum (Poland).
Thirty five percent of them closed a deal after the end of the program in the form of an initial investment, a new partnership or a strategic partner that agreed to further support their scaling efforts. Innovative tech early stage startups s with disruptive potential are invited to apply online and try their luck on this year’s Startup Spotlight.
How to Web 2014 will take place on November 20 and 21 at Crystal Palace Ballrooms and the tickets to the event will be available soon on the conference website, with a starting price of 59 EUR.
