The Eastern European Startup Tour

Geeks on a Plane will take place in Zagreb, on September 26th. The conference will include a competition among technologically innovative companies and projects, as well as a discussion on a current state of regional startup scene. The Zagreb event is a part of a wider tour throughout the Eastern Europe in which investors and tech executives from the US and the UK, are visiting Berlin, Talinn, Moscow and the Croatian capital.

The event is organized by an the famous US seed investment fund 500 Startups with the help of Farmeron, ZIP, CRANE and your own Netocratic. 500 Startups is a fund that typically makes between 10 and 250 thousand dollars of seed investment per startup and has already invested in the Croatian startup Farmeron and Slovenian Toshl.

US Outbrain acquires Slovenian Zemanta

At their 10th anniversary, the Slovenian high-tech company Zemanta d.o.o. announced that it was entirely acquired by Outbrain from the US, the world’s largest premium content discovery platform. The sum that Outbrain paid for Zemanta’s technology, products and team remains a business secret, and Zemanta’s co-founders Andraž Tori and Boštjan Špetič will join Outbrain.
