When such an important group enters a region, speculations are bound to happen. Foodpanda’s CEE expansion, which has been happening throughout the past months, welcomed the service into a several different markets, among which are Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia as well as other Balkan countries.

Piotr Łagowski, co-founder and CEE managing director of Foodpanda, talked more about what this represents for the region during second OMGcommerce conference, which took place last Friday in Zagreb, Croatia, and what the users can expect both from Foodpanda and Rocket Internet.

Łagowski opened up his presentation by saying that Rocket Internet is the biggest European incubator that has 50 companies in some 70 countries all over the world. It mainly focuses on e-commerce service, and its aggressive approach led many to question what’s exactly going on there.

Always Be Selling

As Łagowski explained, they are extremely focused on sales and they represent the key feature which stands this incubator out in the sea of others. This approach helped them to become one of the world’s most important e-commerce players, while Foodpanda has been labeled as the fastest growing startup in the world.

Rocket Internet combines corporate and startup in a superb way which transcends a lot of “traditional” ways people do startups.

Piotr pointed out that it is extremely important to get the sales out there, close as many clients as you can and essentially do more with less. It doesn’t matter how you close a sale as long as you close it. In the end, it all comes down to numbers.

Marketing is also playing a huge role in Foodpanda’s strategy as the company advertises on social media and throughout different partnerships. Conversions are very important and analytics play an important part of the whole process, added Łagowski.

He closed his presentation sending a message to all the startups in the crowd. “With or without VC, make it happen”. Make sure you find a partner as it will be much harder for just one person to handle all the business. Work with smart and experienced people who can improve your work and who can delver in the end.
