EU Starts Its Hunt For The Best EU Startups: Are You Ready?

European Commission announces its hunt for the best tech startups. All the EU-based ones which are younger than 3 years, and raised less than €1 million in external funding, are welcome to register for EU funding sources until May 22, 2014.

European Commission announced it is starting its search for the best European tech startups! This year’s All Stars Competition in London is rounding some of the most promising young companies in the EU sand encouraging them to seize  the opportunity to win exclusive access to Europe’s most prestigious startup events and pitch in front of great names like Sir Richard Branson, Chad Hurley and Niklas Zennstrom.

All the EU-based startups younger than 3 years who raised less than €1 million in external funding are welcome to apply until May 22, 2014. If you fit this category, make sure you apply, because, as Neelie Kroes puts it:

Part of businesses success is making the right connections and the European Commission can help open doors. Finalists will get connected to EU funding sources, successful entrepreneurs and other influential people.

Tech All Stars Competition

From June 10 until June 11, 12  EU-based startups will get to know the bustling London startup scene, hone their pitching skills compete against each other to become one of the three finalists. June 12th is the day when the chosen 3 pitch their ways towards Tech all Stars 2014 crown.  The winner will be panellist at the European Commission’s Digital Agenda Assembly, getting the chance  to rub shoulders with some big names in the tech world.

US Outbrain acquires Slovenian Zemanta

At their 10th anniversary, the Slovenian high-tech company Zemanta d.o.o. announced that it was entirely acquired by Outbrain from the US, the world’s largest premium content discovery platform. The sum that Outbrain paid for Zemanta’s technology, products and team remains a business secret, and Zemanta’s co-founders Andraž Tori and Boštjan Špetič will join Outbrain.
