Branimir Karacic at OMGcommerce: What is Affiliate Marketing and how do we use it?

Branimir Karacic from Kolektiva, talked about affiliate marketing during his presentation on the second day of OMGcommerce which was held in Croatia’s capitol, Zagreb. Affiliate marketing – marketing based on performance, helped grow Kolektiva which is today one of the largest e-commerce in Balkans.

Branimir introduced the audience to this marketing model by starting with William J. Tobin, American entrepreneur who first developed it in 1989. Since then, the model grew over the period of next decade and in 2006. it became pretty clear what are its possibilities on the web.

Affiliate marketing is performance based marketing which consists out of couple core things. You only pay for the performance which means that it’s pretty low-cost. It is the perfect solution for a new business.

He continued by telling the audience what is the best way to start with their affiliate marketing. Research definitely takes the first place, a lot of research. Second most important thing is service, and it’s no secret that Kolektiva uses Commission Junction, Branimir added.

With affiliate marketing you can meet multiple goals. You can generate traffic, acquire users and boost sales.
