Bulgarian LAUNCHub Seed Fund recently announced the start of its new dedicated round for applications for seed funding ending June 9, 2014. The fund's team is now looking for more teams to welcome on board the LAUNCHub family of 41 startups and more than 120 founders.
After it secured 1.5 million dollars and another 6 millions in seed investment, American-Slovenian communications platform for apps Layer announced that it raised 14.5 million in Series A funding from Homebrew, AME Cloud Ventures, CrunchFund, Fuel Capital and others.
A few weeks ago, when we visited Wayra’s Demo Day in Prague, one of the startups really caught our eye – BIG Launcher. I know what you’re thinking – what kind of interface is that? Well, it’s a launcher for Android, intended for seniors or visually impaired persons, that don’t have to use feature phones or senior phones anymore. Today it has more than 350.000 downloads of the free version and around 30.000 of the paid version. And the whole story started when one of the cofounders’ mom broke her phone.

Brand Embassy, a "next level" customer care tool, has closed a $1 million round of seed investment with two funds and is opening six new offices globally. The move comes as customer service moves towards social media and away from traditional channels such as toll-free phone numbers.

Bellabeat is a pregnancy tracking system that rethinks the pregnancy experience. The team believes that by giving women a way to autonomously track and share their pregnancy experience this engaging, comforting and enjoyable at-home experience will become a part of the contemporary prenatal care.
GoodData, the leader in cloud business intelligence, and StartupYard, a mentor-driven seed accelerator based in Prague, announced a partnership to provide select startups with free access to the GoodData platform. StartupYard is recruiting applicants for its fourth round until January 31st with the theme of Data, Search and Analytics.
The Bulgarian LAUNCHub Seed Fund marks the beginning of the year with 10 new investments – 9 new companies and one follow-on in portfolio member EdHub. The latest investment decision followed the fourth Long Weekend Event held during November 28 – December 1, 2013, which was the culmination point of the Fund’s selection process.
